Degree in Automation Engineering Technological Education

The Department of Automation Engineering at the University of West Attica offers a comprehensive undergraduate programme focused on automation technologies, control systems, and intelligent infrastructures. The curriculum combines theoretical and practical training, preparing students to design, implement, and optimise automation solutions in industrial and smart building environments. The curriculum encompasses theoretical knowledge and practical skills in various technologies, including electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, chemical, and biological systems. Students gain in-depth understanding of system structures and operations, with particular emphasis on areas such as robotics, CNC machine tools, industrial data collection and processing networks, and intelligent control systems. The programme also provides extensive training in computer systems and software, highlighting industrial informatics.

Hydroden Summer School

The 2nd Hydrogen Summer School is designed to provide reskilling and upskilling opportunities for both students and professionals, with a fovus on the international hydrogen sector. This initiative is part of the European project “Green Skills for Hydrogen”, organized by the Bioeconomy and Environmental Cluster of Western Macedonia and Advent Technologies, in partnership with the Univercity of Western Macedonia. This program will offer participants the chance to enhance their understanding and expertise in hydrogen technologies, covering the entire value chain. The objectives of the Program are: 1.Trainning, reskilling and upskilling participants by offerring a comprehensive understanding of hydrogen technologies related to production, storage, usage and safety, as well as its applications, benefits and potential role in the energy transition. 2.Trainees will develop the ability to recognize, evaluate, and identify hydrogen technologies and practical applications. 3.Acquiring critical skills in evaluation, questioning, analysis, and interpretation to solve complex and unpredictable problems in line with the continuously evolving hydrogen sector. 4.Building a team consisting of researchers, students, entrepreneurs, and professionals, centered on adopting hydrogen technologies and innovations.

Academy for Environmental Trainers

The Environmental Trainers Academy is a 4-day intensive “Train the Trainer” course, organised by the Cluster of Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia (CluBE) that aims at establishing an innovative and forward-thinking paradigm for environmental education in Greece. The programme is tailored to train education providers in the field of Environmental Education. This initiative aims to empower participants with the essential competencies and skills to organise and implement environmental education activities, though a series of intensive workshops and multidisciplinary lectures. What is more, the Academy, though its activities cultivates active participation in decision-making processes, though promoting active participation in the Climate Community of Western Macedonia activities.

Additionally, it examines the applications of the circular model in the primary sector and the national strategy for developing Circular Economy in Greece. Lastly, it places particular emphasis on the protection of the ecosystem, nature, and the biodiversity of the region.

Upskilling & Reskilling Programs in High Demand Sectors with Emphasis on Digital & “Green” Skills

This programme aims to provide theoretical training to unemployed adults in acquiring digital and green skills in the field of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and more specifically in RES applications for energy needs of buildings.The “Renewable Energy Systems Technician” programme at IEK Volteros trains professionals in the installation and maintenance of systems such as photovoltaic panels, wind turbines, geothermal, and solar thermal systems.
