Description

Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR) typically provide visual (but also multisensory) experiences through specialized hardware, such as VR goggles (Head Mounted Displays). The emergence of low-cost systems allows for the development of viable applications in an increasing number of situations. However, developing these applications presents a challenge, as it is necessary to track the user to display information according to their position and orientation. Human factors also pose complex and difficult challenges, as these systems can easily impact user comfort, health, safety, and privacy if not developed using an appropriate methodology.
This microcredential aims to introduce the fields of Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality, addressing basic concepts, methods, and tools that will allow students to better understand the issues involved in developing simple applications.
