The project aims to support the transition from traditional to industrialised (off-site) construction by developing tools that address skills gaps and strengthen the capacity of the workforce in line with sustainable development goals.
Specific objectives:
- To identify skills shortages within the construction sector.
- To develop innovative tools and training pathways for upskilling and reskilling.
- To better align vocational education and training (VET) with labour market needs.
- To improve access, flexibility and quality of VET opportunities.
#BuildOffsiteEU promotes the shift towards industrialised construction as a more sustainable and efficient approach, contributing to energy efficiency and the circular economy. The project brings together VET providers, industry stakeholders and research organisations from several European countries to address workforce challenges. Through participatory methods and the use of digital technologies, it develops practical tools to respond to identified training needs. It also aims to strengthen links between education and the labour market while encouraging the inclusion of underrepresented groups, such as young people, women and migrants.
The project delivers key outputs including expert interviews and company surveys to analyse sector needs and identify skills gaps. It develops digital tools such as a skills map and training pathway proposals to support workforce development. In addition, dissemination tools, including a web portal and newsletters, are produced, alongside national events that bring together relevant stakeholders. Overall, the project contributes to improving the quality and relevance of VET and supports the transition towards a more innovative, sustainable construction sector.
