The Hydrogen Summer ScH2ool returned for its third consecutive year, taking place from 7th to 11th July 2025 at the University of Western Macedonia, in Kozani. This international training programme continues to serve as a key initiative for reskilling and upskilling professionals in the rapidly developing hydrogen sector.
The Summer School brought together participants from across Europe, including undergraduate and postgraduate students, PhD candidates, researchers, engineers, and professionals from the energy and hydrogen sectors.
The training programme provided a comprehensive overview of the hydrogen value chain, covering production, storage, distribution and end-use, as well as economic and policy aspects. Participants attended high-level lectures, hands-on workshops, and live demonstrations. A dedicated training by Advent Technologies focused on High Temperature Proton Exchange Membrane (HT-PEM) fuel cells, advanced membrane electrode assemblies, and Alkaline Electrolyser Cells (AEC).
One of the highlights of the week was the “Hydrogen Challenge” workshop, held on 10 July. Ten companies—including Hellenic Hydrogen, DESFA, DEPA Commercial, Advent Technologies, Motor Oil, and others—presented real-life challenges related to hydrogen technologies. Participants worked in teams to propose innovative solutions, engaging directly with industry experts.
