The Skills for Employment resources developed by the ILO between 2020 and 2024 provide updated guidance on how to design training systems that enhance work-readiness and employability. These resources include policy briefs, tools, and methodological guidelines focused on aligning skills development with labour market needs. They emphasise the importance of transversal skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability, alongside technical competencies. A strong focus is placed on work-based learning, apprenticeships, and partnerships with employers to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
The ILO resources also address emerging challenges such as digitalisation and the green transition, highlighting the need for continuous upskilling and reskilling. They are particularly relevant for VET providers, policymakers, and training organisations seeking to modernise curricula and improve learners’ transition into employment. These tools support the development of flexible, inclusive, and demand-driven training systems that enhance employability outcomes.
