VRoad. Virtual Reality applied to roadwork training in European construction industry

Description

Didactic guide for VET trainers that will allow them to manage the VRoad and get most of the training system.

The maintenance and operation of road infrastructure are essential to ensure its long-term viability and to extend the lifespan of European transport networks. This contributes to social and territorial cohesion within the European Union by supporting economic growth and job creation. To achieve this, the construction sector requires a highly qualified workforce in road works, particularly in relation to Health and Safety, in order to improve competitiveness and address current challenges such as risk prevention, pedagogical innovation and the development of teaching skills.

The project aims to improve health and safety training in roadworks through the use of Virtual Reality (VR).
Specific objectives:
- To enhance risk prevention in road maintenance activities.
- To develop innovative, work-based learning approaches.
- To improve pedagogical skills in VET.

VRoad addresses the challenges of training in hazardous roadwork environments by introducing immersive VR simulations. It enables learners to experience realistic scenarios safely, improving knowledge and skills acquisition. The project combines technological innovation with vocational training to meet industry needs.

It delivers a VR training application with simulated scenarios, a competence guide, a teacher’s handbook and a roadmap aligned with European frameworks. It also strengthens collaboration through advisory groups and research activities.
