DUAL ONLINE CENTER
Bank of Good Practices in Social Inclusion through WBL
Sanindusa Promoting Qualification
Overview
Employees without the minimum compulsory schooling of 12 years, resulting in low digital literacy and some gaps in learning about new ways of carrying out tasks. With the involvement of a Vocational Training Centre, we have developed RVCC (Recognition and Validation of Competences) processes on our premises so that our employees can obtain 6th, 9th or 12th grade certification through non-formal education. Some even achieve dual school and professional certification. Sanindusa is located in the district of Aveiro in Portugal.
Objectives
1. What is the main goal of this best practice?
To improve employees' qualifications and digital literacy by enabling them to obtain formal education certifications (6th, 9th, or 12th grade) through non-formal learning on the company premises.
2. How does it help underrepresented groups access Work-Based Learning?
It targets employees with low formal education—often part of underrepresented groups—by bringing recognition and training directly to the workplace, making learning accessible and tailored to their needs.
3. How does it reduce barriers to participation in apprenticeships and vocational training?
By offering flexible, on-site certification through RVCC, it eliminates the need for employees to leave work or travel, addressing time, cost, and educational entry barriers that typically prevent participation.

Implementation
The initiative was implemented in conjunction with the Qualifica Centres in the region. Centros Qualifica are public vocational guidance and education centers in Portugal designed to help adults improve their qualifications and skills. One of their main roles is to recognize and validate skills that adults have gained through life and work experience, allowing them to obtain formal school (4th, 6th, 9th, or 12th grade) or professional certifications without having to start from scratch.
Brings education to the workplace, reducing exclusion of adults who left school early or never completed compulsory education.
Reaches a wide range of individuals, including migrants, older workers, and those from low-income or low-education backgrounds.
Supports different learning paths, adapting to each individual’s experiences, needs, and goals, rather than using a one-size-fits-all model.
Removes structural barriers to education by offering flexible, no-cost opportunities at the workplace
