NaturBuild. Nature Based Solutions: Green roofs training for urban and building sustainability

Description

The project aims to respond to the growing demand for qualified workers in sustainable construction by providing specialised training on green roofs, contributing to energy efficiency and climate resilience in urban environments.
Specific objectives:
- To develop a comprehensive training course covering all stages of green roofs.
- To improve workforce skills in installation, maintenance and deconstruction processes.
- To raise awareness of the environmental, economic and social benefits of green roofs.
- To align training provision with emerging labour market needs in the green construction sector.

Naturbuild addresses the environmental challenges linked to urbanisation, particularly high energy consumption and carbon emissions in cities. In line with European renovation targets, the project supports the development of green skills in the construction sector. It focuses on green roofs as an innovative and sustainable solution that enhances energy efficiency, biodiversity and urban climate conditions. The project develops an online course aimed at workers and installers, covering the full lifecycle of green roofs. It is designed through collaboration between specialised training and energy organisations across Mediterranean countries, ensuring that content reflects different climatic conditions and professional practices.

The main output is an online training course, structured into modules on awareness-raising, installation, maintenance and deconstruction of green roofs. The course provides both technical knowledge and a broader understanding of environmental benefits. It integrates the perspectives of various professional profiles involved in the process and promotes a holistic approach. Additionally, the project fosters collaboration with external organisations in the sector and contributes to improving workforce readiness for emerging green jobs in construction.
