Circular Economy in Industry (UNIDO e-learning course)

Description

Circular Economy in Industry is an e-learning course developed by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to support skills development for the green transition in industrial and professional contexts. The course is structured into ten thematic modules that provide a comprehensive and progressive overview of circular economy principles and their application across industrial value chains.
The modules cover key areas such as the economic foundations of the circular economy, sustainable production and distribution systems, circular design strategies, and value retention approaches including remanufacturing, reconditioning and refurbishing. Further modules address recycling processes, circularity in use and consumption, and the role of the bioeconomy and circular bioeconomy in supporting sustainable resource use. The course also explores the links between trade, environment and circular economy, as well as the contribution of renewable energy to circular and low-carbon industrial systems.
By combining conceptual foundations with applied perspectives, the course supports the development of transversal green skills such as systems thinking, resource efficiency awareness and the ability to link environmental, economic and industrial dimensions. Its modular structure makes it suitable for integration into vocational education and training (VET) and lifelong learning programmes focused on the green transition.
