Off-Site Building: Steel Frame Training

Overview
30 students from Electricity and Electronics. Manufacturing and Assembly basic cycles took part into a iniciative promoted by the center and two local SMEs.
The aim of the project was to promote steel frame construction, a system that solves many of the problems of traditional construction: time, efforts and risks decreased as well as less investment is required.
In the yard of our center a small demostrative structure was built. Next steps of the project will be the instalation of electrical service, plumbering system and heating system.
Objectives
The main objective is to train students to work in the construction sector of the future
- Underrepresented groups access work-based learning with simple and intuitive tasks, teamwork, and project-based learning
- To reduce barriers to participation, the work materials are designed for easy understanding. All participants are necessary to complete the project.
Implementation
To promote social inclusion, diversity, and equity in work-based learning, different groups, degrees were involved. Unfortunately, women are underrepresented.

Success stories
Students from different branches develop team building skills.
Measured outcomes
All the participants adquired soft skills as long as they should work in a work based learning ecosystem.
Challenges and lessons learned
The most important of all was the time management, do essential tasks and prioritize the others. Teachers have an esential role in it.
